About Logan Vikings

The Logan Vikings Swimming Club is a friendly, family-oriented swimming club, providing a positive environment where swimmers are encouraged to achieve personal success from a Club Night level through to National Championships. We are placed in the First Division of the Brisbane Swimming Competition.

Our aim is to create a rewarding experience for all swimmers, providing them with a platform for self-improvement, responsibility and a focus on performance NOT just results.

Logan Vikings encourages diversity, inclusion, sportsmanship, and commitment from everybody associated with the club and we welcome members from the age of 6 and over.

Our Coaches

Vikings are pleased to have three coaches in the ranks that not only support our swimmers through the Logan City Council Squads but also competitively at race meets.

Zane King With over 23 years of coaching experience, Zane has developed and mentored athletes who have gone on to represent Australia at major international competitions, including the Junior Commonwealth Games and the World Championships.

Kierston Cuskelly was appointed to the team in 2023, our first female club coach who has elevated the coaching ranks and provided further support for our female swimmers, adding dynamic and balance to the Club.

Events & Meets

Club Race Nights | The Logan Vikings Club hosts Club Nights through the Summer and Winter Season for recreational and competitive swim members. Race Nights are a great way for Logan City Council Squad swimmers to be introduced to racing in a friendly environment. We have swimmers as young as 6 come and 'give it a go'.

Club Transitional and Preparation Meets | The Club hosts 1-2 swim meets each year, which invites swimmers from other swimming clubs in the Brisbane and wider region to compete. On average we see more than 200 junior and senior swimmers compete at each event. These meets are open to our registered competitive swim members.

Brisbane, Queensland and National Meets | Swimmers that qualify for race events can compete at various levels, against swimmers from all across Brisbane and the State at a range of different venues including Chandler. With many of our more experienced and older swimmers representing the club at the National level. These meets are open to our registered competitive swim members.

Swim Camp | Each year Logan Vikings hold a 4-day Swim Training Camp mid-season and after the Christmas break for its swimmers classified in Development and Performance squads. This event creates an environment for personal development, community and growth. Enables space for individual goal setting and an environment for support and friendships (in and out of the pool)

Swimmer Health and Wellbeing

Out of the pool, Logan Vikings supports its swimmers with cross-training activities including weekly Pilates and supervised Gym Training.

Coach Kierston Cuskelly has run sessions for our female swimmers using the program 'Ignite Athlete Female Health and Wellbeing'. This provides a safe and supportive environment for our girls as they learn to juggle the rigours of being a female athlete with school, health and general life. Stay tuned for the next programme round.

Fundraising

Like any community club, our members are heavily involved in fundraising activities to help sustain the support of our swimmers and coaches. Fundraising efforts have contributed to the costs of purchasing swim caps and uniforms, swim and meet equipment, medals and ribbons, providing subsidies for camps and activities and paid for our coaches to be in attendance and provide support and coaching at meets.

You will regularly find us cooking snags at a Bunnings Barbeque, holding raffles at swim meets and running Vikings community events like Trivia and Presentation Nights.

Sponsors In addition to fundraising, we thank the sponsors who have supported the Logan Vikings Swimming Club and our swimmers. In particular, we would like to thank our current panel of sponsors:
